Depending on the model you rent, and the location you choose, our houseboats comfortably sleep from six to fourteen people. You can even bring extra guests (how many depends on your model) and they can throw out a sleeping bag and sleep under the stars. There is plenty of room inside and out for dining, dancing, fishing, and lazing around. You will be provided a life vest for each guest.
New Melones Lake is currently holding 2,221,000 acre-feet of water, and is at 92% capacity. The lake is full and beautiful. The lake level is at 1,071 ft. above sea level and only 17 ft. from full capacity. Surface water temperature has really warmed up, and is approximately 60-64 degrees. Please use extreme caution when boating! The debris has lessened, but caution is still necessary. Also, watch out for rattlesnakes- they are out in force around the lake.
Located in Calaveras County in Angels Camp (home of the Celebrated Jumping Frog Jubilee), New Melones Lake was formed with the completion of a 625-foot high dam in 1979. New Melones surpassed in size the Old Melones reservoir that had been formed in 1926. By 1982, the lake was filled and on its way to becoming the wonderful recreational spot that it is today.
